Arcade racers for when the Wi-Fi drops

September 7, 2026 · Lukas Berger

Racing is a perfect offline genre because a race is a short, self-contained burst. You don't need anyone else online to feel the speed.

Dune Drifter won me over with its drift handling and ghost runs. Chasing your own best lap is weirdly addictive on a quiet commute.

The thing that ruins offline racers is ads between every race. Pick ones that keep interruptions out of the way so your momentum survives.

Tilt or buttons is a personal call. I switch depending on how crowded the train is — buttons when I can't tilt comfortably.
