Strategy games that don't need a server

Mobile strategy has drifted toward always-online designs, but the genre's roots are single-player and thoughtful. Offline strategy still thrives if you know where to look.

Iron Tide Command is a neat example — small maps, clear goals, and missions that reward planning over grinding. It respects your time.

When you play offline, instant restarts matter a lot. Losing a mission should mean you jump straight back in, not wait for anything to reconnect.

A sandbox or skirmish mode is a bonus worth seeking out. It gives the game legs long after the campaign ends.
